Neon Pink Applique Bag

For this tote bag I took strips of painted canvas and sewed them together both horizontally and vertically. Once I had a nice big piece to work with, I cut the cloth in a large circle and sewed it on the front of the tote.

Lately the idea of embellishing with layers rather than contrasting colors has been really appealing.

This is the back :-)

By boxing the corners, the bag is nice and deep. I love how it looks and how flat it sits.

Dino-Gal: Mixed-Media Assemblage

Dinosaur Gal Won't You Come Out Tonight and Dance by the Light of the Moon

This lovely lady is a demure dinosaur heading out for her first fancy dress ball.

While all is lovely and idyllic, darkness seeps out of each dripping petal in her bouquet.

She raises her hand to her head in confusion... what is happening here?

~~~~~
Remember these:
Might have appeared a bit psycho when I was on my beheading-the-figurines spree but now she's positively demure.
Dino-Gal is complete and I'm completely smitten.
Lots of dimensional paste, acrylics and varnish totally transformed the piece.
I painted the wooden base with several layers (some wet on wet, some later once it had dried) of Golden acrylic paint and added three coats of varnish for some shine.
And I made a quick video so you can see her from all sides.
Do you ever indulge in this kind of creative play?
Dreams Don't Work Unless You Do: Decorated Spoon
I'm about five hours behind schedule today so I'm just posting this fly-by style.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend :-)
Glittered Mixed-Media Heart
I just can't get enough of hearts.
Hearts. Flowers. Stars.
They may be the most pedestrian of doodles but they call to us on a very deep soul-level.
So I'm going to indulge myself in just a few more.
*shrug*
Can't be tamed ;-)
P.S. Guess who found her glitter Mod Podge *woop-woop*
Embellished Scissors: CLARITY
I just looked in my draft folder and I have oodles of unpublished posts... which explains why everyone has been so quiet. LOL
My habit is to write a post and then go back later, make sure it's fairly clean copy and then post it the next morning. Apparently the system broke down a bit.
So... scissors!
I am crushing on these hard.
Do school room safety scissors conjure up all sorts of memories for you too?
I vividly recall the feeling of cutting through construction paper with absolute abandon.
Methinks it's time to take that abandon out for a spin again.
How about you?
Fall Leaf Mixed Media Artwork
Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world.
Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.
With the holidays approaching (sorry, but it's true and before we know it...) I thought I'd focus on restocking my Etsy shop with a wide variety of items at a gift-giving friendly price.
This one is priced to go fast at $25 :-)
Dark Circus Bust - Acrylic on MDF
I've been working on learning to paint more expressively.
Trying to evoke a mood, a feeling, a bit of a story with my imperfect strokes.
This is the first project that (in my mind) is finally in the direction I'm aiming for.
And for the first time I'm starting to see the fruit of the agreement I made with myself to swear off design teams,  commissions, to limit my blog reading/Pinterest etc. and focus on working towards the style my muse is craving.
And she makes me ridiculously happy.
